To be eligible, the project must follow a structured process: problem definition, hypothesis formulation, conducting experiments or tests, and analysis of results. The eligible type depends on the expected economic and social impact in the region concerned.

The funding rate depends on four factors: the type of project (basic, applied, or experimental development research), the region, the company size, and whether it's carried out in partnership or not. For an experimental development project, the maximum rate is between 40% and 55%. In the case of a partnership, an additional 10% to 15% can be obtained.

Each region has its dedicated organization: DG06 in Wallonia, Innoviris in Brussels, and VLAIO in Flanders. Each offers programs tailored to different project types (fundamental research, applied research, and experimental development), with specific conditions.
