Innovation & Subsidies

In Belgium, innovative companies can benefit from a range of tax mechanisms and regional subsidies to reduce costs, fund their projects, and leverage their R&D results. Effectively utilizing these requires in-depth knowledge of a complex and constantly evolving landscape.
ABV Development supports companies in two complementary areas: optimizing tax incentives related to innovation (tax exemption for researchers, investment deductions (DPI/CIR), and innovation income deduction (DRI)) and securing regional subsidies (R&D funding, investment premiums, and aid for energy and ecological transition).
Active for 25 years in Belgium, our team is proficient in the specific procedures of each region (VLAIO in Flanders, Innoviris and SPW/DG06 in Wallonia and Brussels) and handles all administrative and tax formalities.

Project Feasibility and Strategy
The exemption from professional withholding tax for researchers allows retaining up to 80% of the withholding tax deducted from their salaries. The investment deduction (DPI) and the research tax credit (CIR) reduce the taxable base on eligible investments. The innovation income deduction (DRI) provides tax benefits for income derived from protected intellectual assets, with a deduction of up to 85% of net innovation income.

Owner's Representative Services (AMO)
In Flanders, VLAIO notably offers the Ecologie Premie+, STRES, and KMO Portefeuille. In Brussels, Innoviris funds R&D projects. In Wallonia, SPW/DG06 supports R&D, and Green aid accompanies investments in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and environmental protection.
ABV Development analyzes eligibility, optimizes applications, and ensures follow-up until funding is released.
