Renewal and extension of the Seneffe-Soudremont wastewater treatment plant

ABV was tasked with carrying out the Environmental Impact Assessment #EIA and the technical study on constructability in a flood zone, as part of the application for the renewal of the Class 1 Single Permit #SP, submitted by IDEA.

This application aimed to renew the operating licence for the Soudremont urban wastewater treatment plant, located in Seneffe. Its operations were covered by an operating permit for 65,000 PE, issued on 13 May 1993 for a period of thirty years. It was therefore necessary to renew this authorisation in order to continue the operation of the #WWTP.

Since its commissioning, this wastewater treatment plant had not undergone any significant renovation or extension.

The two biological treatment lines, although designed for nitrogen treatment, no longer met current sizing criteria and no longer allowed the effluent quality objectives to be achieved easily. Major renovation and extension works were therefore planned to maintain effluent quality, including throughout the duration of the works.
