End-of-waste status (EoW) for recycled aggregates in the Walloon Region
From 1 July 2021, recycled aggregates must comply with the new regulations relating to the exit from waste status — End of Waste (Decree of the Walloon Government implementing the procedure for exiting waste status M.B. 05.04.2019).
Any producer of recycled aggregates wishing to valorize them in the Walloon Region will have the obligation to respect the technical conformity of the product in accordance with harmonized European standards. The level of quality adopted by the legislator is CE2+ level.
In particular, for the producer/valuer, this means:
- To implement a quality management system certified by an external organization;
- To submit an application for the registration of the discharge of waste status;
- To meet the requirements for the environmental compliance of the product (recycled aggregates), including in particular the carrying out of quality control of recycled pellets in batches of 5,000 t.
