The Walloon regulatory framework: the Soil Decree of March 1, 2018
In the Walloon Region, requirements for contaminated soil assessments are defined by the Soil Decree of March 1, 2018, regarding soil management and remediation.
This framework mandates a structured process including a preliminary site investigation, and where applicable, a descriptive site investigation, a risk assessment, and, if necessary, a remediation project.
The study can be initiated on a voluntary basis (for project feasibility) or to meet regulatory requirements linked to a planning or environmental permit application.
