The Walloon government cancels taxes on productive investments

AdminAdmin

According to the newspaper L'Echo, the Walloon government reached an agreement on Friday to freeze its reform of the Marshall Plan compensation mechanism.

This freeze, which will still have to be formalized by parliamentary amendments, consists in returning to the situation of last year in terms of the tax on driving force as well as the property tax on equipment and tools.

Basically, the compensation mechanism as it existed in 2025 will be relaunched, which will allow companies to continue to be exempt for their investments made since 2006. The government thus confirms that no new taxation will be applied in 2026 on productive investments in Wallonia.

The agreement also provides for a working group to review the mechanism in order to put the mechanism in place.

This structural reform, scheduled for 2027, must meet a triple objective: to promote the reindustrialization of Wallonia, to guarantee stable and predictable municipal revenues and finally to put an end to the windfall effects and deviations that weigh on regional finances.
