From mine gas to electricity!
ABV Development was the partner of GAZONOR BENELUX SA to support it in the project to develop and extend 3 new units for converting mine gas into electricity in the town of Anderlues.
Exploiting mine gas has several advantages. It contributes to the replacement of imported natural gas by local green energy that respects the environment, through the creation of a short capture and recovery circuit.
It reduces the carbon footprint of the mining basin by avoiding emissions of methane CH4 into the atmosphere (25 times more polluting than CO2).
Mine gas, considered as recovery energy, is extracted at a depth of 1,500 meters and at a pressure of 1.6 bar.
The 2 existing recovery units and the 3 new units will produce enoughgreen electricity to ensure the annual consumption Of approximately 35,000 households.
