Operating an industrial or commercial business, or developing a real estate project, may require obtaining an environmental permit or a single permit.

In the Flemish, Walloon, and Brussels Regions, carrying out or operating a so-called "classified" activity – one likely to impact the environment or the neighbourhood – requires obtaining a permit. This obligation applies to any new activity, as well as to modifications or extensions of existing activities.

ABV Development, an approved agency in the three Belgian regions, handles all administrative procedures with the authorities and carries out the necessary technical assessments (noise studies, mobility studies, impact assessments, impact notices).
